On Friday, we dyed some eggs. Mostly, my sister did the work and I watched.
I was told to draw a bunny for the jelly bean jar where you guess how many jelly beans…
But everyone told me I had drawn a cat! How does everyone know that bunnies have long ears? I don’t!
So I printed out one from the internet…
When the whole clan came over today (Sunday), we had booze and an egg hunt for the 30-somethings. Then the 30-somethings hid the eggs for the 60-somethings. It was so fun! I’ve never been on that side of things.
My dad started out cruising the side yard, seeing nothing. His gaze was too broad. It looked like he expected the eggs to jump out of the bushes and into his plastic grocery bag!
I’ve heard family tales of color-blind great-grandparents having to look for yellow eggs in lemon trees. This wasn’t nearly that hard.
I started giving my parents clues. When both my mom and dad were near a certain egg at the same time, I laughed at their competitiveness. It wasn’t until the very last milisecond that my dad would catch himself and chivalrously let my mom take the egg.
I hid one egg inside a cooler of beer. My dad found it only after several clues and looking in every cooler but that one. “It has to be in partial view!” my dad said in defense. HA!!! Who knew?
Anyway, it was a fun Easter. I missed celebrating with my Boston/London friends this year, but it was good to be with family. Plus, I gotta see my parents hunting for eggs again. That was just too classic.
