OMG, what a weekend! I actually got to lay out in my bikini (in April!) and do some much-needed work on my tan.
My sister Jen ran in the Ragnar Relay, which is a 200-mile race from Huntington Beach to Coronado. The runners go all day and all night—and the resting teammates follow in a van. Her group had two teams of 12, running side-by-side, and they wore capes, so I could spot them easily. In fact…as I was driving home from The Bar Method in Solana Beach—I took Via de la Valle and I passed a caped runner by the polo fields. Oh, boy! I shouted out my support—and she seemed grateful!
Next I drove to my old elementary school where my sister was about to take the baton (which was really just a slap bracelet). I hadn’t been to that school in 20 years! My sister was in the first graduating class. (We are ancient.)
This leg was Jen’s third and final leg of the race—just three miles (but after a six-miler and a 4-miler, I think. Barf). From our old school, she headed west then south, down Mango and Portofino, and finished at Torrey Pines Beach. I stopped a few times to take amateur videos. I was proud!
