A very distant relative of mine from the U.K. named Rich Meanley is coming to meet the American Meanleys in a few weeks (hi, Rich!). He lives about 10 minutes from the factory where some of my Mini Cooper was made. I think the town is Birminghamshireford. 🙂 When he saw on this blog that I’d damaged my car, I think he felt the car’s pain all the way back in the Old Country (kidding!).
Anyway, it prompted him to send these fabulously vintage-looking photos. Rich tells us:
This is my Dad’s Mini, which he built himself from reject parts (but good enough for him) and also some new and second hand bits in the early 70’s.
I love how he uses the word “bits”! Just like when Bridget Jones talks about her “wobbly bits.” Rich also tells us that his dad is 6’2″—but he was able to fit into the car!
