When I bought my convertible, I thought all I needed to worry about was sun damage (and not getting in an accident). But a new study from Saint Louis University says I need to worry about hearing loss, too. Driving at 55 mph with the top down puts a person at risk, with 85 decibels of loudness. Add to that, noise “spikes,” like a motorcycle driving by, or turning up the radio so you can hear the tunes over the wind.
Convertible drivers, definitely don’t drive like this for extended periods of time. This is your official Adultlescence warning!
Well, I’ve never driven with the top down on the freeway because I don’t want to mess up my hair. Once again, my health is saved by my vanity!
