What is it about kids doing adult things that is so funny? I chuckle when I see children wearing sunglasses, typing on a BlackBerry, or holding a beer can. I mean, there’s a reason everybody loves the eTrade baby (is he even cute?).
And then when adults do young things? Like when Betty White raps or when your dad does an ollie on a skateboard. It’s hilarious. Sometimes I teach my parents colloquialisms and slang words. When they work it into conversation, you feel so delighted. For example, out of the blue, my mom told me, “Last night, your father was up in my grill.” I might have taught her wrong—he was not confronting her, he was just being in-her-face annoying. But anyway, I was proud of her for integrating the phrase.
I talk about age a lot. I just hope I am always young at heart.
