Thank you all for the kind words and thoughtful insights yesterday and Wednesday! And thank you for sharing your stories, too. It helped to realize I wasn’t alone in the way I felt, and to see all the different paths people have taken.
I guess I might have mentioned, too, that I didn’t enjoy grad school. I was isolated and miserable in NH. I usually pretend those 2 years don’t exist. So this week I started thinking the entire experience could never have happened and I really would have been better off.
Anyway, to end the week on a positive note, I’m making myself write out a few things I did right in my 20s. This is kind of a past-tense bucket list.
1. Finish college
2. Make lifelong (I assume) friends
3. Fall in love with a good guy, even if it didn’t work out
4. Get published
6. Run a half marathon; learn how to lift weights
7. Learn how to do taxes and stuff
I’d love to hear what you did in your 20s that you’re proud of, and maybe it will give me (and others) some ideas of things we could try to do!
