Hi! My name is Erin Meanley. I am a 32-year-old native San Diegan. I lived in New York City for 7 years. Now I’ve moved back to America’s Finest City. I blog about figuring out my life—and the funny crap along the way.
P.S. “Adultlescence” is easier to pronounce if you emphasize the first syllable (say like “apple”) and skim over the “t” (or slur like you’re drunk): “AH-dul-leh-sentz.”

Ha! Was totally pronouncing it ah-DULT-lescence in my head. It took long.
Hilarious! I feel like I was just playing “mad-gab” (right game??)…even with your tip I kept saying “ah-dul-leh-sentz” over and over then I was like OH! “adolescence!”….right?
This is fun! Hope I can keep up with all your great blogging! lol
I’ve caught your blog on Glamour. Looking forward to reading this one. Good luck on the left coast!
I loved the MSN’s feature of your Article, “11 Things Every Girl Should Hold Out For.” It was a window into your values. I felt like I instantly learned your inner most heart melting views on love and romance.
Found your blog via Twitter, which I Googled after I read your story in Glamour. I’m definitely adding you to my blogroll.
Hi Erin–Thanks for your comment on our blog! Your blog(s) are great, and so funny that you met and interviewed Phoebe’s dad! Glad to have found each other on the big bad internet!

The crap you wrote on msn.com about what guys will do when interested contains some of the most stupid things I have ever read. Stop giving younger girls this horrid view on what relationships should be like.
I love reading your posts on Smitten! Looking forward to reading Adultlescence!!
I enjoy reading your Single-ish blogs at Glamour. Your posts strike a nice balance between overly positive (being single is the best!) and keeping things real enough. Looking forward to reading more of your posts here and at Glamour.
I looked forward to reading your posts on Smitten and am glad to be able to continue that here!
what the F is a BFF????
Hey Erin
I was a big fan of yours on glamour.com, looking forward to your new blog, esp with the SD stories. We have similar paths (same hs and college, still single). I’m just a few years behind you. I’ll be in sd this weekend tearing up del mar (ha) with some fellow single girls. Not sure if this is stalker-ish or weird, but you should come out for some drinks. I think our antics may be blog-worthy. Let me know what you think.

Hi Erin,
I am delighted to see there is a way to contact you. I am familiar with some of your posts for Glamour, but there was one that I will never forget. I can’t remember when you published it, but it was entitled, “What to do when he doesn’t call,” or something like that. I can’t tell you how many times, after short and long dating stints, that, with tears in my eyes, I looked at the crinkled photocopy of your post. I would read it and re-read it, close my eyes and say, “I can do this!” and move on. I had it memorized by one point. It helped me get back out there and to keep believing in myself. Over a year ago, I met a wonderful man, and now have a great, meaningful, REAL relationship that is moving toward engagement and marriage in the near future. Like many of us, I never thought it would happen, especially after all the lack-luster dates, near misses, and the usual round-up of, well, jerks. I didn’t get it — I wasn’t bad looking, Ivy League educated, funny, smart, published. It took a while but it happened, when I finally put myself first and didn’t care anymore and I can’t tell you how that little “when he doesn’t call” post of yours kept me going through all the bad dates and poor treatment I received. You made me laugh a lot to. So thanks!!
