My sister got a pedi and they painted her toenails orange. The color actually looks more florescent in person. Brighter and prettier. The camera’s just crappy.
So I guess hating Halloween does NOT run in the family. Because I really can’t stand this holiday. I can never think of anything to wear. Then when I put something on, I’m not excited about it. It’s lame. It’s uncomfortable. It’s cold. Oh—and also, I get shy when I have to answer the door for trick-or-treaters. I don’t know why. It’s just kids. Still.
Is anyone else a grinch about Halloween? Honestly, I don’t get why it’s such a popular holiday. What is there to like, other than the candy that makes you fat??
Erin, I totally agree! I don’t like Halloween. I actually wish I were in the suburbs instead of NYC so kids would come trick or treating because I think they’re so cute. But in New York, it’s always cold, people get way dressed up and too drunk, it’s impossible to find a cab, etc. I think the problem is people decide that Halloween has to be the best night ever and then it can never live up to those expectations.
I’m skipping Halloween for a day trip to DC for the Jon Stewart/Stephen Colbert rally.
My favorite part of Halloween is when it’s over and you can start looking forward to the holidays! (Christmas is my favorite!)
@shoegall88, Christmas is my favorite, too! And I agree–Halloween is the WORST in NYC. It’s cold and you can’t catch a cab because EVERYONE’S out and hailing a cab. Last year, it was raining and it took me over an hour to get home. I had to skip 2 other parties and feel guilty about it, too. I think some people like to dress up b/c they don’t feel comfortable in their own skin, and so they feel less inhibited behind a mask. What-EVS.

And what’s so funny is that I got my nails painted orange today! I am hoping that by displaying Halloween cheer on my fingers I don’t have to dress up???

Aw I like Halloween! But it’s no Christmas or Thanksgiving. I only started liking it once I got old enough to not care about what people thought about my costume. WHen I was younger I felt so much pressure to have a costume that looked good, but not like I was trying too hard and didn’t make me look hideous.
This year I’m going as a gnome. I get to wear a beard. I’m finding it hilarious.
Well, I don’t hate it, but I haven’t dressed up in a long, long time. I think it is cool that other people dress up. I like the fact that there is a holiday devoted to scary stuff. The ambiance is cool. I just don’t dress up. I guess I am a bit of a party pooper. Ah well. I LOVE christmas! Fall is my favorite time of years because of the holidays including Halloween! Better yet, after Halloween we get the beginning of the next movie season. Can’t wait for Megamind!!!!

Hey Erin. Like you I’m not really a Halloween person. I did like it when I was a little kid but now that I’m older I’m not that into it anymore. People looking totally ridiculous in their costumes, getting drunk, sleeping around, and just acting like morons. I’m a Christian and I don’t think Halloween honors God but gives glory to Satan and his ways.
I’m definitely a Christmas person since I love the pretty lights, the lovely music, and most important of all we celebrate the birth of our Savior Jesus Christ. I’d choose Christmas over Halloween anytime and hoping Halloween is banished for good.
